Honolulu Pride’s theme for 2020 is “Shaka and Shine”– a great way to virtually share LGBTQ+ love and pride, while respecting and protecting our friends, families and community.
In honor of Honolulu Pride Month, the Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation will present a special half hour program “Aloha With Pride: Shaka and Shine”. This program will be produced by Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation and Lei, and will share the history of LGBTQ+ culture in Hawaii, profile amazing members of the community who are making an impact in Hawaii and communicate to viewers what
“Aloha, With Pride” means.
This inspiring and fun local program will be hosted by Matt Guevera and Francine Beppu, with various performances and the World Premiere of Shaka and Shine, an original song produced by Honolulu Pride and performed by Keilana.
This special program will be broadcast on KHON2 on October 15th at 7:00 pm, KHII on October 16th at 8:00 pm, KHII on October 17th at 6:30 pm, and KHON2 on October 18th at 7:00 pm. The program will also be live-streamed on KHON2.com, KHON’s Facebook, and KHON’s You Tube.
And on October 17, a virtual Honolulu Pride 2020 celebration will live stream on the Honolulu Pride webpage and social media channels. Hosted by Candi Shell and DJ George, it will feature music and performances, plus creative contributions from the community and all sorts of surprises.
Also in development is an online Community Panel Discussion to address recent community challenges and resources to help overcome them. The goal is to create a safe environment for this discussion so that hopefully more people will find the support that they need.
