Rainbows Over Waikiki, an annual beautification and awareness project in the heart of Waikiki, has run for four consecutive years during the two weeks leading up to the Honolulu Pride™ Parade + Festival.
Though the official Honolulu Pride events this year are virtual, the Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation is sponsoring the physical installation of more than 120 rainbow banners along Ala Moana Blvd. and Kalakaua Ave. from Oct. 10 – 24. We may be social distancing, but we’re proud to share these visible signs of LGBTQIA Pride and Aloha as a vital part of Hawaii’s famously diverse and inclusive culture. Until we can all be together again, look for these Rainbows when you’re out for a stroll. Take a selfie with a banner and tag it #shakaandshine#honolulupride#rainbowsoverwaikiki
